Our annual GIFT-A-BIKE campaign aims to support students with a bicycle. For these children, a bike isn’t a toy – it’s a means to an education. The bikes were gifted to elementary and secondary students that allowed them to avoid an on average two hour one-way journey on foot to school while their parents worked. It also kept them in school – missing fewer days or preventing them from dropping out entirely.
Did you know that children in rural areas have to walk on average 13km a day to get to school? This barrier too often is the reason for drop out rates. By gifting a child with a bicycle, we ease the 2.5+ hour journey to school, allowing students to have more time to focus on their studies.
This Christmas Season, we encourage you to join our GIFT-A-BIKE Campaign! Your donation will help a child get to school more safely, save time and energy and aid in helping them continue their studies.
Every donation over $50 is eligible for a Canadian Tax Receipt.
CAT’S ROAD TO SUCCESS
13 year-old Cat Tien received a bike through GIFTS Foundation. Cat was going to be pulled out of school because her family could not afford her tuition costs, school supplies and uniform, while the travel to school was too far from her home to walk. Through GIFTS Foundation’s help, and because of donors like you, Cat was awarded a scholarship and a bike. With a clear path to learning, she now has an opportunity to rise out of poverty.
